STATUS: 12.22.08

AIM has had a year of exciting new data to investigate and we want to take this opportunity to wish everyone who is following our progress a very wonderful Holiday season and our best wishes for the New Year.

Spacecraft Status

The AIM spacecraft continues to operate extremely well with the exception of the uplink receiver.   Uplink receiver bitlock remains sporadic with only a few minutes of bitlock every few days.  One of our longest ever period without bitlock occurred this month – 12 days as of Dec 19.

Instrument Status

SOFIE pointing was offset by 11 arc-minutes in azimuth from the center of the solar image during SR events for one full day to calibrate potential pointing drifts between the sun sensor and detector optics. All instrument systems are operating normally.

The Release 2 data for 2007 has been validated, and we are performing additional data screenings before releasing that data to the public. The Release 2 2008 data is currently being validated. The overall quality of the SOFIE data is excellent.

Presentations covering SOFIE PMC observations and refraction angle retrievals were presented at the AGU fall meeting in Dec.

CIPS is operating flawlessly and taking excellent data in the Southern Hemisphere during this PMC season.

CDE has returned to normal operations after a 5 day period of no data due to a planning error.

Project Data Center (PDC)

The AIM website was down for one week for unscheduled maintenance.
